How do we build a resilient, responsible community?

Parents need to be involved through workshops and forums in building resilient, responsible communities, understanding their role in the school community and having an understanding of the common language used at school that can be used at home. These workshops can include anything happening at school with student welfare e.g. resilience building, parenting, cyber bullying etc.

Sergiovanni (2005) discusses the key to successful schooling is building a covenant that is a binding agreement by principals, teachers, parents and students to honour values, goals and beliefs to make certain commitments to each other. He explains that this covenant provides the school with a common theme and a sense of direction and opportunity to find meaning in school life.
Synergy will be created when the parents are working with schools to create resilient responsible communities. Synergy is when two or more people work together to create solutions to problems.
